Ignite Cap Record-Breaking Regular Season with Four-Set Victory Over Mojo

Fishers, IND – The Indy Ignite punctuated their historic 2026 regular season with a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Mojo on Sunday afternoon, finishing with a league-best 23-5 record. Playing before a sellout crowd at the Fishers Event Center for Fan Appreciation Day, the Ignite celebrated their status as the top overall seed in the upcoming Major League Volleyball Championship. The win marked Indy’s fifth consecutive victory and solidified their home court as a nearly impenetrable fortress, where they lost only once the entire season.

The afternoon started with a slight stumble for the home side, as the Mojo capitalized on early Ignite unforced errors to take the opening set 25-22. San Diego’s defense, led by libero Shara Venegas, frustrated the Indy attackers early on. However, the momentum shifted violently in the second set. The Ignite responded with a masterclass in efficiency, hitting an incredible .500 as a team. Opposite hitter Azhani Tealer led the charge, going a perfect 5-for-5 on her swings in the frame to power a 25-13 equalizer.

The third set proved to be the match’s defining battle, evolving into a high-stakes marathon that had the Fishers crowd on its feet. Both teams traded multiple set points in a grueling back-and-forth affair that saw momentum swing with every whistle. It took a clutch back-row kill from Tealer to finally break the deadlock, setting up setter Mia Tuaniga for a match-defining ace that secured the set 30-28 and gave Indy a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth set, the Mojo initially threatened to force a tiebreaker, holding a 13-12 lead and showing the grit that has made them a dangerous playoff contender. But Indy’s veteran leadership took over down the stretch. Middle blocker Jaelyn Keene anchored a dominant 13-4 closing run, stifling San Diego at the net and providing the offensive spark needed to pull away for a 25-17 set win, ending the match in four.

Head coach Lauren Bertolacci praised her team’s resilience after the match, noting the importance of entering the postseason with high energy. “We definitely wanted to give the fans the sendoff they deserve,” Bertolacci said, acknowledging the vocal home support that has defined their season. The Ignite finished the match with a balanced attack, proving once again that their depth is their greatest weapon as they transition from the regular season to the “one-and-done” pressure of the playoffs.

With the regular season officially in the books, the Ignite now turn their attention to Frisco, Texas, for the MLV Championship. As the number one seed, Indy is scheduled to face the fourth-seeded Omaha Supernovas in the semifinals on Thursday, May 7. Having set the all-time league record for wins, the Ignite enter the postseason as the heavy favorites to hoist the trophy and avenge last year’s runner-up finish.
