Ignite Make History: Indy Sets MLV Wins Record in Thrilling Five-Set Comeback Over Fury Indy Ignite Volleyball by Chris Shaw - May 2, 20260 Fishers, IND – The Indy Ignite etched their names into the Major League Volleyball record books on Friday night, securing their 22nd victory of the season with a gritty 3-2 comeback win over the Columbus Fury. The victory at the Fishers Event Center officially eclipsed the previous league record of 21 wins set by Omaha last season. Even with the top postseason seed already clinched, the Ignite showed no signs of slowing down, extending their home winning streak to 12 consecutive matches. ➡️ Ignite vs Fury photos Head coach Lauren Bertolacci opted for a experimental lineup, starting five players who had seen limited action throughout the season. The gamble initially faced stiff resistance from a determined Columbus squad. After Indy took a tight first set 25-22, the Fury roared back with high-efficiency offense, hitting .481 in the second set to win 25-20.Columbus maintained that momentum through the third, cruising to a 25-18 win and putting the league leaders on the brink of a rare home loss. The fourth set saw the Ignite rediscover their rhythm. Sparked by breakout performances from outside hitters Emoni Bush and Taylor Landfair—the latter making her first start of the season—Indy broke open a narrow 10-9 lead with a dominant run. Their efficiency spiked to .391 for the frame, allowing them to pull away for a 25-18 win and force a deciding fifth set in front of an electric Fishers crowd. The tiebreaker was a back-and-forth affair that saw the Fury take a late 13-11 lead following a massive block by Rainelle Jones. With the record on the line, Indy utilized a strategic timeout to settle their nerves. Coming out of the break, Emoni Bush delivered a crucial back-row kill to close the gap, followed by a series of Columbus errors that allowed Indy to finish the match on a 4-0 run, taking the final set 15-13. Despite the loss, the Columbus Fury showed significant fight behind Jaelyn Hodge, who posted 14 kills and 10 digs, and Ashley Evans, who notched a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs. However, the night belonged to Indy’s depth. Rookie libero Emma Halter was stellar in her first professional start, recording 20 digs and a 76% positive reception rate, proving the Ignite’s roster is as deep as it is talented heading into the playoffs. The record-breaking Ignite (22-5) will look to add one more win to their historic regular season when they host the San Diego Mojo for Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Fury return home to Nationwide Arena to conclude their 2026 campaign against the Atlanta Vibe. Both teams are now looking toward the MLV Championship in Frisco, Texas, where Indy will enter as the clear team to beat.
