Ignite Stays Perfect at Home: Indy Sweeps Atlanta to Solidify League Lead

Fishers, IND – The Indy Ignite continued their dominant run through Major League Volleyball on Sunday, securing a hard-fought 3-0 sweep (25-19, 28-26, 27-25) over the Atlanta Vibe at the Fishers Event Center. Fresh off clinching a playoff berth earlier in the week, the Ignite showed no signs of a “letdown” performance, extending their lead at the top of the standings to 1.5 games over the Dallas Pulse.

While the box score shows a sweep, the match was a grueling battle of inches. After Indy took the first set with relative ease, the Vibe found their rhythm and pushed the Ignite into extra points in both the second and third frames. Atlanta’s defense, led by Taylor Smith (12 kills, 14 digs), forced the Ignite to work for every point, but Indy’s poise in high-pressure moments ultimately proved to be the difference.

Indy’s veteran pin hitters carried the heavy lifting. Opposite hitter Azhani Tealer was nearly unstoppable, racking up a match-high 19 kills with an incredible 55.8% hitting percentage. She was flanked by Leketor Member-Meneh, who added 13 kills and provided the defensive play of the afternoon—a spectacular diving save late in the second set that shifted the momentum just as Atlanta looked poised to tie the match.

The third set was the closest of the day, as Atlanta jumped out to a 13-7 lead, threatening to extend the match. However, the Ignite’s “never out of it” mentality, praised by head coach Lauren Bertolacci, allowed them to chip away at the lead.A back-row kill by Tealer eventually gave Indy the lead at 24-23, and a final block by Lydia Martyn sealed the victory, marking Indy’s 18th win of the season.
