Guerin Catholic wins the 3A State Title Baseball High School High School Baseball by Joshua Herd - June 21, 2026July 5, 20260 INDIANAPOLIS — Guerin Catholic didn’t waste a moment in its first trip to the state finals, jumping on defending champion Andrean early and riding a dominant outing from senior ace Tate Troxell to a 9–3 win in the Class 3A baseball state championship Friday night at Victory Field. The Golden Eagles (28–3‑1) scored three runs in the first inning, two more in the second and three in the fourth to build a 9–1 lead that Andrean (31–4) never erased. Troxell, an Alabama commit, struck out 12 over six innings and allowed just four hits, keeping the 59ers off balance throughout. Guerin Catholic sent nine batters to the plate in the opening inning. Nolan Ratliff drew a leadoff walk, Ben Canada singled, and Karson Smith drove in the first run on a bases‑loaded fielder’s choice. A wild pitch made it 2–0, and Grant Beard tripled to right to push the margin to 3–0. Canada doubled in the second to help extend the lead to 5–0, and Beard added another RBI during a three‑run fourth that stretched the advantage to 8–1. Andrean used four pitchers in the first four innings as Guerin Catholic piled up nine walks and consistently pressured the 59ers’ defense. Andrean scored once in the third and twice in the seventh, but Troxell’s command and the early deficit proved too much to overcome. The final score was Guerin Catholic 9, Andrean 3. The win delivered Guerin Catholic its first baseball state title. FINAL: Guerin Catholic 9, Andrean 3.
