Columbus North wasted little time taking control of the match, rolling past East 9-0 in the girls soccer matchup shortened by lightning Wednesday night. Before kickoff, Columbus North varsity head coach David Young was presented with the game ball from the Bull Dogs’ previous victory, commemorating his 100th career victory as North’s head coach.

The celebration continued on the field as the Bull Dogs jumped on the Olympians early, scoring five goals in the opening minutes. North continued to control the match, outshooting East 30-0, including 17 shots on goal, before lightning forced the game to be called 10 minutes into the second half.

The victory moves North to 4-0 on the season and extends the Bull Dogs’ home winning streak to 11 games. Earlier in the evening, the junior varsity Bull Dogs opened the rivalry matchup with a 6-0 victory in a 35-minute half. North will face Floyd Central at home, while East travels to take on Franklin Central on Saturday.
