Coleman’s Perfect 10 Leads Buckeyes to Victory in Home Finale Quad Meet

Columbus, OH – In a historic Sunday afternoon at the Covelli Center, the No. 20 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team delivered a powerhouse performance to claim victory in their 2026 home finale. The Buckeyes posted a season-high team score of 197.150, fending off stiff competition from No. 21 NC State (196.625) and No. 16 Penn State (196.550), while Eastern Michigan rounded out the quad meet with a 194.725.

The highlight of the meet—and arguably the Buckeyes’ season—came during the final rotation on floor exercise. Sophomore JJ Coleman brought the home crowd to its feet with a flawless routine that earned a perfect 10.0. This mark represents the first perfect score for the Ohio State program since 2003 and only the second 10.0 on floor in school history. Coleman’s performance put the exclamation point on a dominant day where she also secured the uneven bars title with a 9.900.

The Buckeyes’ success wasn’t limited to the floor. Junior Courtney McCann etched her name into the record books earlier in the afternoon, tying the program record on balance beam with a nearly perfect 9.975. Ohio State’s beam rotation was a masterclass in precision, as senior Tory Vetter followed with a 9.900 in her final home appearance, helping the team secure the event title with a collective 49.375.

NC State proved to be a formidable challenger, led by a standout performance from Syniya Thomas, who captured the vault title with a career-high 9.900. The Wolfpack showed remarkable consistency across all four events, particularly on bars, where Katie Harper notched a 9.900 to share the event title with Coleman and Ohio State’s Sadie Jane Berry. Their second-place finish underscored their status as a rising power in the ACC.

Penn State maintained a narrow lead over NC State for much of the afternoon but ultimately slipped to third after a tightly contested final rotation. The Nittany Lions displayed their trademark depth on vault and bars, keeping the pressure on the host Buckeyes throughout the four rotations. Despite the third-place finish, their 196.550 remains a strong road score as they head into the final stretch of the Big Ten season.

As the meet concluded, Ohio State honored its 2026 senior class, including standout Tory Vetter, who finished her home career by winning the all-around title with a 39.450. The victory provides significant momentum for the Buckeyes as they prepare for their final regular-season quad meet at Arizona this Friday, while NC State and Penn State look ahead to their respective conference championships.
