Purdue Falls to Oregon

The last matchup of the tournament’s opening day featured No. 14 Purdue taking on No. 11 Oregon, a game defined early by pace, hustle, and constant pressure on both ends of the floor. Both teams pushed the ball in transition and matched each other with strong defensive intensity, setting a fast rhythm from the opening tip.
Purdue’s defense made scoring difficult for Oregon at several points in the first quarter, forcing tough shots and slowing the Ducks’ early rhythm. But Oregon stayed composed, adjusting quickly and finding ways to break through Purdue’s defensive wall. Their persistence paid off as they closed the first quarter with a 21–12 lead.
Purdue entered the second quarter determined to close the nine‑point gap, but Oregon steadily widened the margin. The Ducks’ offense grew more fluid as the half progressed, and Purdue struggled to keep pace. Oregon continued to show their ability to readjust and thrived all the way to the half still in the lead at 47-24. Oregon’s strong offensive showing was anchored by Ehis Etute, who contributed 12 points in the first half, securing their 23-point advantage.
The second half opened with both teams aiming to gain control, pushing harder on their offense and having stronger defense. Purdue continued to work towards closing the gap between Oregon, while Oregon continued to maintain control.
In the end Oregon continued to maintain that control to the very end of the game, with the final score 82-64. Allowing them to secure a spot in the next round, where they will face off against 6th seed Maryland.
