Boilermakers Are Back on Track

Zach Edey dominates the middle scoring 26 points with 11 rebounds vs Ohio State on February 19 at Mackey Arena.

After a two-game derailment, the #3 Purdue Boilermakers won convincingly against Ohio State on Sunday afternoon 82-55 at Makey Arena. Zach Edey was too much in the middle for the Buckeyes to handle as he scored 26 points and had 11 rebounds in the game. This was Edey’s 21 double-double of the season. The double and triple teaming of Edey got Ohio State nowhere in the paint and led to a long day for their defenders.

All around Purdue had solid games from their players. Trey Kaufman-Renn had 11 points from the bench, Brandon Newman had 8 points and Mason Gillis had 10 rebounds to help Purdue record the win. Purdue dominated outscoring the Buckeyes 40-20 in the paint and their biggest lead in the game was 31 points with about 2:27 to go in the game.

Brice Sensabaugh scored 20 points for Ohio State but that was not enough to end their losing streak which is now 9 in a row. things fell apart for Ohio States season after their January 5 loss to Purdue. Since then, the Buckeyes have lost 13 of the last 14 games.

Purdue is now 24-4 after the win and are 13-4 in the Big Ten. Purdue has Indiana this week and play Wisconsin and Illinois to end the regular season. The #3 Boilermakers are ready for the challenge. Here is a link to the photo gallery of the game: Purdue vs Ohio State – Indy Sports Daily
