Felix Rosenqvist Wins the closest Indy 500 in History

INDIANAPOLIS — Felix Rosenqvist charged past David Malukas on a final‑lap restart Sunday to win the 110th Indianapolis 500, earning his first Borg‑Warner Trophy in one of the closest finishes in race history.

Rosenqvist, driving the No. 60 Honda for Meyer Shank Racing, ran near the front all afternoon and capitalized when a late caution set up a green‑white‑checkered finish. Malukas jumped ahead entering Turn 1, but Rosenqvist lined up a runoff Turn 4 and beat the Team Penske driver to the yard of bricks by 0.0571 seconds.

Pole‑sitter Álex Palou led a race‑high number of laps but slipped to third after fuel strategy forced him off sequence late. Scott McLaughlin and Pato O’Ward rounded out the top five.

The race featured long green‑flag stretches and a fast pace, contributing to a record purse of more than $30 million distributed among the 33 starters.

For Rosenqvist, the win delivered a breakthrough moment in his eighth IndyCar season. The 32‑year‑old Swede had been a steady contender but had never before claimed the series’ marquee event, securing Meyer Shank Racing’s second victory in the past five years at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
