Ignite Protect the House: Indy Topples Atlanta Vibe in Four-Set Thriller

Fishers, IND – The Indy Ignite secured their first home victory of the 2026 season on Thursday night, delivering a poised 3-1 performance against the Atlanta Vibe at the Fishers Event Center. Following a tough loss in their home opener just days prior, the Ignite (4-1) looked rejuvenated, utilizing a record-breaking serving night to remain tied for first place in the Major League Volleyball standings.

Indy set the tone immediately, racing out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set. Opposite hitter Azhani Tealer and outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh spearheaded an aggressive attack that caught the Vibe off guard. Despite a mid-set push from Atlanta, the Ignite’s front line held firm, with Blake Mohler providing critical touches at the net to close out the first frame 25-18.

Atlanta refused to go quietly, mounting a fierce comeback in the second set. Led by outside hitter Leah Edmond’s 13 kills and a defensive masterclass from Indianapolis native Raven Colvin, the Vibe orchestrated a 9-1 scoring run. Their blocking tightened significantly, frustrating the Indy hitters and allowing Atlanta to cruise to a 25-16 win, effectively silencing the home crowd and evening the match.

The third set proved to be the night’s turning point. After a 9-9 deadlock, the Ignite regained their composure through tactical serving. Member-Meneh was particularly lethal, finishing the match with an Ignite-record four aces. Her back-to-back winners late in the set sparked a 7-2 run, propelling Indy to a 25-19 victory and swinging the momentum permanently back to the home side.

Indy’s depth shone in the final set, as they turned a two-point deficit into a commanding lead with an 11-2 surge. Azhani Tealer finished the night as the match’s top scorer with 19 points, including 16 kills. Defensively, libero Elena Scott recorded a season-high 18 digs, ensuring the Vibe’s heavy hitters couldn’t find the floor. The Ignite sealed the victory with a 25-18 win in the fourth, much to the delight of the Fishers faithful.

The win sets up a high-stakes showdown this Saturday as the Ignite prepare to face the Dallas Pulse in a battle for undisputed possession of first place. For the Atlanta Vibe (2-4), the loss marks a missed opportunity to climb the ladder, though they showed flashes of brilliance that they will look to harness in their upcoming home match against San Diego.
