Mad Ants victorious over Swarm in first round of G League Playoffs

Last time the Mad Ants played the Greensboro Swarm, they handily defeated them by 28 points in Indianapolis. Enter April and the G League Playoffs have begun and the Swarm made their way back to Indy for a 1st round rematch.

The Mad Ants had won their last 2 games while the Swarm had won 2 of their last 3 games, with both teams having identical records.

Both teams game out of the gate swinging, with the Swarm driving into the paint on nearly every possession, while the Mad Ants relied heavily on shooting the ball from mid-range and three-point land.

While the Swarm outrebounded the Mad Ants and played well, they didn’t shoot the ball in the 1st half nearly as well as Indiana did, with the Mad Ants shooting 51% from the field compared to the Swarm’s 39%.

While the score was a 12-point Mad Ants’ lead at halftime, the Swarm started pressuring late in the half and threatened to cut the lead to single digits a few times, setting the table for a competitive second half.

The second half saw Greensboro threaten and try to cut the lead down, but the drive and home playoff atmosphere was too much, as the momentum continued to swing in the Mad Ants’ favor, as they locked down the 10-point win.

The Mad Ants will travel to Osceola on Thursday, where they’ll take on a very tough Magic team as they look to advance to the Championship.
