
Muncie, IND – The Central Michigan Chippewas gymnastics team emerged victorious over the Ball State Cardinals in a closely contested meet at Worthen Arena on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The Chippewas posted a final score of 195.750, narrowly surpassing the Cardinals’ 195.575.
The meet was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams showcasing impressive routines and individual performances. Central Michigan started strong on the uneven bars, posting a season-high score of 49.250. Ball State responded with solid performances on vault, led by graduate student Suki Pfister’s impressive 9.875.

As the meet progressed, both teams continued to shine in different events. Ball State’s Zoe Middleton, fresh off being named MAC Athlete of the Week, delivered a stunning floor routine, earning a meet-high score of 9.900. Central Michigan’s Luciana Alvarado-Reid also impressed, securing a 9.900 on the uneven bars and ultimately tying Middleton for the all-around title with a total score of 39.275.
Despite the strong individual performances, Central Michigan’s consistency across all four events proved to be the deciding factor. The Chippewas demonstrated depth and resilience, with multiple gymnasts stepping up to contribute crucial scores.
With this win, Central Michigan extends their winning streak and solidifies their position as a top contender in the Mid-American Conference. Ball State, despite the loss, demonstrated their potential and will look to bounce back in their upcoming meets.
Both teams will continue their seasons with upcoming competitions. Central Michigan will return home to host Eastern Michigan, while Ball State will travel to compete against Kent State.
