IU Gets the Win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse

The Indiana Hoosiers Played in Downtown Indy for the 40th straight season on Sunday afternoon hosting Harvard. The game was close for about the first 25 mins but then the Hoosiers started to break away thanks to the play of Kel’el Ware. He dominated the middle scoring 28 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Ware shot 12 for 13 from the field even hitting his lone 3-point attempt. Mackenzie Mgbako scored 18 points and had 8 rebounds to contribute to the 89-76 victory. Xavier Johnson left the game with an injury and did not return.

A key to victory for the Hoosiers was their frontcourt. Ware, Mgbako and Malik Reneau combined for 63 points shooting 27 of 40 for the afternoon. They outscored Harvard 50-28 in the paint and looked good after the rocky start. Next up for the Hoosier is a date with Maryland in Bloomington on Friday night to open up Big Ten play. It will be nice to see how the young team continues to develop.
