Boilers run wild in 49-30 win over Gophers

West Lafayette, IND – The Minnesota Golden Gophers visited Ross-Ade on a beautiful, but chilly Veterans Day. Purdue Boilermakers won the game with a final score of 49-30. The game was a high-scoring affair, with both teams putting up a good fight.

The beginning of the game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading initial touchdowns. Minnesota would then have to settle for a couple of field goals as the Boiler defense came into their own and the offense was clicking, eventually racking up 604 yards of total offense behind Cards 251 yards through the air. Two Boiler rushers eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the day with Devon Mockobee running for a season best 153 yards and Tyrone Tracy Jr. with 122 yards.

Minnesota Golden Gophers tried to mount a comeback in the second half, but Purdue Boilermakers’ defense held strong. Purdue Boilermakers’ offense was firing on all cylinders, and their defense was able to hold off Minnesota Golden Gophers’ comeback attempt. Minnesota Golden Gophers played well, but they were unable to overcome Purdue Boilermakers’ strong performance. Purdue Boilermakers’ win improves their record to 3-7, while Minnesota Golden Gophers’ loss drops their record to 5-6 1.
