On Sunday, the Ohio State women’s gymnastics team won their home opener for the 2023 season in front of a sold-out crowd of 3,596 at the Covelli Center in Columbus. Ohio State’s 196.775 team score defeated Kentucky’s 196.575, Arizona’s 194.950, and Greenville’s 181.425 in their quad meet.

The Buckeye’s score of 196.775 on Sunday was the highest season-opening score for the program. Freshman Payton Harris earned two 9.900 scores to finish the meet with an all-around score of 38.950. Other notable scores on Sunday came from graduate student Claire Gagliardi with a 9.950 on the floor, Tory Vetter had a career-high score of 9.850 on the uneven bars, and Lexi Edwards earned a 9.925 on the vault to win the event.

The Buckeyes hit the road to Athens, GA, to compete in another quad to face Georgia, Fisk, and Rutgers on January 16th.
