Steve Torrence wins the Top Fuel champion at the Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals presented by Pennzoil this weekend. He outlasted Terry McMillen in a close race. McMillen left two-tenths behind Torrance and almost made up the difference as Torrence’s Capco dragster began to smoke the tires. As McMillen got close to catching up his engine became a ball of fire and Torrence was able to hold him off for the victory. For Steve Torrence this was his 38th victory as a professional and his 2nd of the year.
The race capped of an exciting weekend of racing at the Lucas Oil Raceway. Be sure to get ready for more exciting racing on Labor Day weekend as the NHRA will return again with the Denso Spark Plug NHRA U.S. Nationals.
