IU tosses back the Boilermakers with 22 point win.

Bloomington, IN – Both Purdue and Indiana University come in today fighting for position in the BIG 10 tournament, while closing out their regular seasons. Right now Indiana sits at #11 and Purdue sits at #10. A win for Indiana today would tie them up with Purdue but not much would change. It would only affect what time they play on Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the tournament.

Ali Patburg didn’t care what would happen in the standings, she just wasn’t going to be swept by Purdue this season. She started the game hot and led the Hoosiers to a 12 point lead in the 1st quarter. Purdue struggled to get anything to drop and only making 5 baskets in the opening quarter.

Ali didn’t slow down to start the 2nd either. The Hoosiers have been able to drop easy transition buckets. Meanwhile the Boilermakers continued to struggle getting baskets, and allowed a 12 point lead for the Hoosiers midway through the 2nd quarter. Patburg closed out the half leading IU with 10 points, Wise led with 6 rebounds, and Yeaney led the team with 5 assists. Meanwhile, Purdue’s Harris led the Boilermakers with 7 points, 5 points, and 2 assists. IU closed out the half with a 21 point lead, 43-22.

The entire 2nd half was controlled by the Hoosiers. They just had an answer for everything Purdue tried to do on the offensive end and forcing turnovers left and right. On the Offensive end, the whole Hoosier squad was hot. Ali Patburg finished as the points leader for the Hoosiers with 18. Brenna Wise led the game with 9 boards, and Bendu Yeaney led with 7 assists. Harris led the Boilermakers in scoring for the game with 19 points. IU dominated the Boilermakers with a 22 point victory 73-51.
