Fever fall on the road to Liberty

This past weekend, the Indiana Fever traveled to New York City to face the New York Liberty, their second meeting this season. Following a previous loss to the Liberty on Thursday, the Fever were eager to bounce back.

Attention remained on Caitlin Clark, who scored 9 points in Thursday’s game. Clark, along with the rest of the team, started the game on a strong note, but the Liberty gradually gained control and out-performed the Fever in the first half, shooting 15-24.

In the second half, the Fever made efforts to narrow the lead, with Clark scoring 22 points and Kelsey Mitchell adding 17. However, Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 24 points, supported by former Fever player Betnijah Laney-Hamilton and Jonquel Jones.

The Fever seemed to struggle with fundamentals while the Liberty appeared to have a more cohesive team dynamic. Ultimately, the Liberty defeated the Fever 91-80, who will now focus on their upcoming game against the Connecticut Sun, as they aim to turn their season around after three consecutive losses.

The game will take place on Monday, May 20th at 7pm in Indianapolis.
