NHRA brings racing back to Indy

The NHRA returned to Lucas Oil Raceway on Thursday for the Dodge NHRA Indy Nationals presented by Pennzoil. There will be 600 cars competing in 19 categories over the weekend, the most cars to compete since the pandemic put a halt to the usual schedule of NHRA events. Safety is number one for all in attendance at the event and protocol was definitely followed well.

The day started off with the Super Street category running and after the 2nd round of time trials points leader Keith Meyers safely advanced to the next day running with a time of 10.860. Second in points standing, Larry Paden Sr. advanced running a 10.834.

In the Top Dragster category after two rounds Al Peavler ran a 6.032 at 219.9 mph. Blake Peaver finished 2nd with a 6.060. Tom Elliot qualified 3rd with a time of 6.112.

In the Top Sportsman category Jimmy Fallon lead the way at 223.65 mph with a time of 6.287 seconds. He is looking to continue on the fast track on Friday.

The racing will heat us as the qualifying and elimination continue on Friday. The big cars will even get a chance to practice and excite the crowd at the end of the day on Friday to get us ready for an exciting weekend at the Lucas Oil Raceway. It’s not too late to be there for the excitement.
