Purdue wins their opening game of the Big Ten Tournament versus Penn State 69-61. It was Brandon Newman who sparked the win for the Boilermakers tonight. Brandon Newman had been on a scoring slump. He had not scored a point since January 17 versus Illinois. Newman came out on fire scoring 7 points in the first half, 12 points for the game and going 2 for 2 from the three-point range. His play tonight was appreciated by the team, the fans, and all of the Boiler nation. Jaden Ivey was the leading scorer for Purdue with 17 points. Zack Edey scored 15 points in the paint but it was Newman’s 12 points that did the most.
