No Clark, No Comeback: Sparks Dominate Fourth Quarter to Down Fever

Indianapolis, IND – The Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Indiana Fever 85-75 on June 26, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, snapping a four-game losing streak for the Sparks. The Fever played without their primary star, Caitlin Clark, who was sidelined with a groin injury, and this absence proved costly as Indiana suffered its third double-digit second-half collapse in four games.

Despite a strong start that saw them battle back from an early 8-0 deficit to lead 34-30 at halftime, and extending that lead to 10 points early in the fourth quarter, the Fever couldn’t hold on. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 20 points, extending her double-digit scoring streak to 15 games, while Aliyah Boston recorded her 31st career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with a career-high 5 steals.

However, the Sparks surged in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Fever 35-17. Azura Stevens was instrumental, leading all scorers with 23 points, including 16 in the second half, and adding seven rebounds and three assists. Kelsey Plum also significantly contributed with 21 points and six assists, punctuated by a crucial three-pointer that gave the Sparks their first lead since the first quarter with just over four minutes remaining. Dearica Hamby and Rickea Jackson each chipped in 14 points for Los Angeles.

Fever Head Coach Stephanie White expressed frustration after the game, citing her team’s lack of a “killer instinct” and a tendency to “relax” when leading. She highlighted issues with offensive possessions being too lax, leading to poor shots or turnovers, and defensive breakdowns due to mental lapses. The loss dropped the Fever to 7-8 on the season.
