Fever get back to winning ways, defeat Atlanta by 5

The Fever returned home Saturday night, looking to get back on the winning column agains the Atlanta Dream, after falling hard to the Mystics Thursday night by 13 points.

Last time the Fever played at home, they saw a huge effort from the bench, who racked up 55 points and led the team to a big win over the Lynx, where All Stars Candice Dupree and Erica Wheeler spent the majority of the game on the bench.

Fast forward a week and the two leaders were back on the court and led the team in scoring- Wheeler with 19 and Dupree with 16- each only had 1 turnover and played very well.

A game that saw 16 lead changes and 13 ties was as dramatic as it gets, with both teams clinging hard to their playoff hopes, saw the Fever leading the Dream in almost every statistical category, including points in the paint, second chance points and turnovers- all vital to the team’s victory.

Every Fever player who stepped foot on the court Saturday played a major role in the 5-point win, which was threatened on numerous occasions by the Dream. Natalie Achonway (12 pts), Teaira McCowan (13 pts, 70% FT, 7 rebounds) and Kelsey Mitchell (10 pts, 40% FG) were just as important and carried the team when Wheeler and Dupree were on the bench.

The Fever are off for a full week, which will be big, as they prepare to head back to Washington next week to take on the Mystics yet again.
