IUPUI is Going to The Big Dance

IUPUI wins the KEEPS Horizon League Tournament to punch their ticket to the big dance. IUPUI beat Cleveland State 61-54 to win the bid to the NCAA Tournament.

IUPUI was up by 18 points when the tough defense of Cleveland State woke up and started playing a press defense that slowed down IUPUI. Destiny Leo of Cleveland State hit a three pointer to close the gap to 45-39. Cleveland State went on a 15-3 run to bring the game close.  Cleveland State continued to get closer and cut the IUPUI lead down to one point, 50-49.  Destiny Perkins stole the ball and went in for the layup but missed. Rachel McLimore  grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled. She made the two free throws to take the IUPUI lead up to 3. Cleveland State scored a layup to cut the deficit again, this is when Destiny Perkins who had took over from about 3:38 left in the game continued her hot shooting. Perkins hit a three-pointer while being fouled that broke the hearts of Cleveland State. Destiny Perkins completed the 4-point play to give the Jags a 57-51 lead with 1:34 left in the game. It was then that the party could begin for IUPUI and its faithful fans who attended today.

Macee Williams scored 19 points and had 18 rebounds. this was her third double-double of the tournament. Destiny Perkins finished with 15 points scoring ten of them in the last 3:38 of the game. Rachel McLimore had 11 points with a key layup late in the game.

For Cleveland State Destiny Leo and Gabriella Smith both had 14 points.

The MVP of the Tournament was Macee Williams.
