Michigan State Spartans Women’s Gymnastics Roll to 197.250 Tri-Meet Victory

The Spartans delivered a complete performance Sunday afternoon inside Jenison Field House, powering past tri-meet opponents the Maryland Terrapins and Western Michigan Broncos with a winning total of 197.250. Competing in front of 1,897 fans in East Lansing, Michigan State posted team scores of 49.250 on vault, 49.350 on uneven bars, 49.075 on balance beam, and a meet-best 49.575 on floor exercise to finish more than a point ahead of Maryland (196.200) and two clear of Western Michigan (195.225).
The Spartans set the tone immediately on vault, where Nikki Smith and Sage Kellerman tied for the event title with matching 9.900s. Michigan State carried that momentum to bars, highlighted by Kellerman’s meet-high 9.925 to claim the individual win and push the team to a 98.600 halfway mark.
Beam proved steady when it mattered most. MaKayla Tucker anchored the rotation with a 9.875 to tie for first overall, helping the Spartans maintain control heading into the final event.
From there, it was all green on the floor. Michigan State dominated the standings, sweeping the top scores with Korynne Marquart, Tucker, and Smith all earning 9.925s. The 49.575 team total sealed the victory in emphatic fashion.
Tucker and Smith also shared the all-around crown, each posting a 39.500 in a balanced, four-event effort that underscored Michigan State’s depth and championship potential.
With consistency across all four rotations and a statement finish on the floor, the Spartans once again proved why Jenison Field House remains one of the toughest environments in collegiate gymnastics. Next up for the Spartans will be Ohio State on Saturday, February 21, at 6 pm in East Lansing.
