Ignite Bring the Heat: Indy Sweeps Mojo to Retain Top Spot

Fishers, IND – The Indy Ignite solidified their position at the summit of the Major League Volleyball standings this past Sunday, delivering a dominant straight-sets sweep over the San Diego Mojo. Playing in front of an energized crowd at the Fishers Event Center for a “Winter Games” themed celebration, the Ignite avenged a loss to San Diego from just six days prior. The victory improved Indy’s league-leading record to 8-2, keeping them firmly in first place as they continue their mid-season surge.

The match began with a moment of concern for the home fans when star scorer Azhani Tealer exited early in the first set due to an apparent ankle injury. However, the Ignite’s depth proved to be the story of the afternoon. Camryn Hannahstepped into the opposite hitter role and delivered what coach Lauren Bertolacci called her “most complete match,” recording seven kills, seven digs, and four blocks. Her seamless transition allowed the Ignite to maintain their offensive rhythm despite the loss of their primary scoring threat.

Indy’s balanced attack featured four players scoring in double figures, keeping the San Diego defense on its heels throughout the 25-23, 25-22, and 25-17 victory. Leketor Member-Meneh led the charge with 13 kills, while Anna DeBeer contributed 10 kills and tied a franchise record with four service aces. The Ignite offense operated at a high level of efficiency, hitting at a 41.1% clip, largely orchestrated by setter Mia Tuaniga, who tallied 38 assists and eight digs.

Defensively, the Ignite were equally impressive, stifling a Mojo team that had entered the day on a three-match winning streak. Indy held San Diego to a meager 10.3% hitting efficiency, bolstered by 13 blocks at the net and a standout performance from libero Elena Scott, who finished with 15 digs. Mojo coach Alisha Childress acknowledged the Ignite’s prowess after the match, noting that Indy played “with guns blazing” on their home turf.
