Illinois Wins In The Big Ten Womens Tournament Opener

Illinois celebrates the big win over Wisconsin

The Big Ten Women’s Tournament has begun at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Illinois defeated Wisconsin 67-42 in Tuesday nights opener. The 12 seeded Illini started off fastĀ  dominating Wisconsin leading 24-2 by the end of theĀ  first quarter. Aaliyah Nye finished with a team high 17 points and Kennedi Myles had 12 points to help Illinois coast to victory. After the game Forward Kennedi Myles said, “It’s an unreal feeling. I felt myself tearing up, It was like we’re finally here, where we need to be, where we’re meant to be.” Illinois started the conference season losing 10 straight and then six more after their first conference win. Last week they defeated Minnesota 72-64 in the season finale. With this second straight win, the hope is that the winning feeling will continue into next season.
