The Indianapolis Colts beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 for their second win in a row after losing in overtime in week 1 against the Chargers. This makes the Colts 2-1 this season and at the top of the AFC South Division.

This Colts team is going to need every single win they can get this season to be a real contender in the AFC. Today they showed even more promise and that they are a truly solid team when they can limit their mistakes.

The Falcons came really close to setting a franchise record for penalties called in a game with 16 and totaled 128 yards. They essentially gave this game away due to their mistakes on the defensive end. Colts were on the opposite end of that spectrum with only 4 calls against them for 39 total yards.

The story coming into today’s game was how will future hall of fame kicker Adam Vinatieri respond after struggling the previous two weeks and missing 5 kicks so far this year. When he came out for his 1st kick of the game for a 49 yard attempt, the crowd gave him a standing ovation. He then banked it off the side of the upright but still made it through, and he went on to knock down every extra point and 1 more field goal.

Also during this game, Colts WR T.Y. Hilton left the game during the 3rd quarter and did not return due to a quad injury. That is something that everyone will be focused on hearing about this week.

Colts QB Jacoby Brissett went 28/37 for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Marlon Mack continues to make waves for a team who hasn’t been known to have great runners in a long time. He had 74 yards on 16 carries and 1 touchdown with a 26 yard run being his longest of the day.

The Colts take on the L.A. Raiders in Lucas Oil Stadium next week with a 1pm est kick off time.
